Brr its cold
Wow its so fricking cold out today its crazy. Thank heavens its Thursday and we have an indoor trainer session tonight. Would hate to even think of going out and riding in this weather. But the training is going well and will see what happens this season. It is Feb now and as Peter says its time to get serious. I must say that my roommate is well on his way to the WOW(Worlds of Warcraft) Olympics or maybe he will try out for the Black Ops team. Its all good I just wish I could get him out riding again with us. This is a link to our last Tuesday night trainer session its funny how the Garmin takes us all over the place. Getting better at the sessions. Its fun and glad to see a great group. Well all take care and stay warm

Indoor Cycling

Well I have often thought that living by the beach of the Gulf of Mexico would mean nice cycling weather year round. Well as I near my 46th year on this earth, I have come to the conclusion that there really is no warm place in this country. So I have gathered up a few friends and we set our bikes on our indoor trainers. As I would much rather be outside enjoying the beautiful coast it is really not too bad on the trainer along with other friends. But I really am hoping for nice warm weather to get out to ride.

Let;'s get started
This is my first attempt at blogging so bear with me. I will be posting here regularly about different things that I see during my fit sessions. First a little about myself and what I do. I am a Certified Master BG Fit Technician, certified by Specialized Bicycle Component University(SBCU) and Dr Andy Pruitt with the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine. I have been fitting cyclist's to their bikes now for 15 years. It is such a rewarding experience to hear the joy that riders that are properly fitted to their bikes experience. I currently perform my fits in the fitting studio at Competition Sports in Gulfport Mississippi.
Now a little about the riding that I love to do. I am a roadie by heart but I do love to play in the woods on a mountain bike from time to time. The cold weather down here in Mississippi this time of year has me on the trainer during our weekly trainer sessions at the shop. Although I do try to get out on the road on the weekends. My goals for 2011 are to return to triathlons. I began doing triathlons back in 1981 and had a streak of 22 consecutive years of doing tri's broken up by Hurricane Ivan then Katrina. I just bought a new pair of running shoes but still have yet to get out and run with them LOL. With my birthday this weekend perhaps I may go out for a run. The major thing I had to work on for my return to doing triathlons was getting my weight down. Those of you that remember me at Ironman Florida back in 2001 remember how heavy I was. I tipped the scales at a whopping 215 lbs now I can say that at 172lbs I do feel so much better. As to how fast I will be well that remains to be seen. I have a goal of starting out with a few short low key triathlons then will move up a bit in distance. We will see how it goes.
If you are in the area of Gulfport come by and see us on Courthouse Road sometime and chat or enjoy a warm cup of coffee
